Please join us for a morning of fun, excitement, games, and celebration. The kick-off will usher in a series of programs and activities throughout the week hosted by university colleges, departments, and units celebrating our first-generation students, faculty, and staff.

The MSI Student Council and The Intersection are excited to announce the Second Annual First-Generation Student Essay Contest. The contest is part of the UNLV 2021 First-Generation Campus-wide Celebration. The deadline to submit is Friday, November 12, 2021.

We will put out a call for our first-gen students, staff, faculty, alumni, and donors and build a special video to share online. We will also have internal celebrations in BHS, including a display case decked out in tributes, too.

We will be recognizing and highlighting the first-generation students within our Student Diversity and Social Justice office staff. Starting Nov. 8th members of our staff will be given a high light on our Instagram and Facebook page to recognize their accomplishments, hear some advice they have to share, and learn more about them as the trailblazers of their family!

Hosted by Student Life, this is a two-day career exploration program involving 40-50 UNLV students. Selected from a pool of applicants, attendees will engage in a half-day session on November 11, 2021, from 10:00AM -1:00PM at Circus Circus. This session includes a site visit, tour of the DNV grounds, behind-the-scenes access, and a meeting and Q&A with key festival staff.
